- Planting Depth: ⅛” to ¼”
- Germination Rate: 96%
To Grow
Basil likes the the warm sun, so start these guys indoors and plant outside after our final frost date, April 15. Even then you’ll want to keep your plants covered in a cold frame or just wait a bit to transplant to ensure nice warm nights. Harvest center-top branches to avoid bolting and to help your plant bush out, meaning more shoots and a bigger harvest.
- For Raised Beds: Space plants 8”-12” apart, leaving 12” between rows.
- For Containers: Can be grown in a container as small as a 1-gallon container or a shallow window box, but will thrive in a deep container measuring 2 gallons or more.
Just planted my seeds in egg cartons until i can get some more dirt. Great idea for a line of seeds! How often will the seeds want water?
You should start the seeds by misting them with a spray bottle at least once a day (more if they dry out) until they germinate. Also, keep your soil covered with plastic wrap or a piece of clear plastic placed loosely on top to keep moisture in place. After they germinate, remove plastic and water with a watering can as needed, usually every other day
