Sometimes called Corn Salad or VIT, Mache is a delicious, winter hardy salad green with great flavor and texture. Another winter 2014 survivor, Mache can take the cold-in fact it won’t germinate until temperatures begin to dip to 50 degrees at night. Tiny florets mature after about 60 days in the ground and are harvested whole. Seed close together to maximize your space, as Mache will only grow to about 2-3” at full size. The flavor lives up to the ‘corn salad’ nickname, resembling the flavor of sweet corn in salad form!

- Date: Direct Seed: September 15-March 1 if soil is thawed
- Planting Depth: ¼ in.
- Germination Rate: 95%
To Grow
- For Raised Beds: Space plants 1 in., leaving 2-3 in. between rows.
- For Containers: Can be grown in shallow window boxes or deep planters. Only needs 4- 6 in. of soil depth so can be grown in almost any size container.
